Auto Insurance Rates For Teenage Drivers
Now for those of you who are parents and have kids who are now old enough to drive, I have some tips and information on how you can get cheaper auto insurance rates for them. First thing first, don’t go and buy from the first insurance provider that quotes your rates for goodness sake. Know that auto insurance prices can be very different amongst the various providers.
Now a few bad news first. Since your son or daughter just got their driving license, what this means is that they lack the experience in the driving department. When an insurance provider sees this, it equates to higher risks and so higher premium rates. Not good. But fret not; let’s look at some ways you can help lower the overall rates.
Tip 1 and it starts with educating your son or daughter on the importance of having good driving habits. This is a longer-term perspective as when insurance providers keep track of their good records they will subsequently lower the auto insurance rates in future renewals.
Tip 2 is buy auto insurance policy that has high deductible. Because of the way insurance works, your premium becomes lower as your deductible becomes higher. It’s an inverse relationship.
Tip 3 is when you get a car for your son or daughter, get one that is known for it’s safety and durability. Your kids may think getting a fast car is fantastic, but you should know that insurance providers assign higher premium rates to such sports cars.
Tip 4 for a cheaper auto insurance policy. If you can, get your kids a policy that is stand alone. Usually there are insurance providers that are specialized for teenage drivers. Now you should also know that they do have certain requirements for your kids when they drive. To be eligible for the policy and possible claims, your kids may have requirements to meet like not able to drive in the night, etc.
.Well that’s it and I hope the above tips will be helpful in getting cheaper auto insurance rates for your kids. Remember: teach them good driving habits!
